Had left the music to study law at the university when a chance encounter and a conversation with Tito Puente it inspired him to create his own band.Calderon organized a group and on the advice of his agent, called him the Joe Cuba Sextet, a name that accompanied him during the rest of his career. With the singers Willie Torres and Jimmy Sabater, his sextet in 1954 he made his debut at the Stardust Ballroom and impressed the listeners with his great sound and a distinctive combination of timbales, congas and vibraphone. Cheo Feiciano joined the group later as a singer. The Joe Cuba Sextet became known not only for its popular danceable Latin genres of the era, such as the mambo, the guaracha and the pachanga, but also by mergers innovative styles of african-american and Latino, referred to in general terms as the latino soul.In 1962 they recorded one of the hymns from the latino soul, "To Be With You", featuring Jimmy Sabater singing sotto voce in English on a pace to the bolero. Their success of 1966, "Bang, Bang", which mixed letters in English and Spanish and included the cheerful sounds and cries of a homemade party, came to the lists of radio and helped create a craze for the boogaloo to the mid-1960s.ABOUT THE ARTIST JAVIER FLOREZ:HIGHER STUDIESUNIVERSITY OF CARTAGENAa Bachelor's Degree in technology educationschoolMaster OF FINE ARTS in ArtDesign IAFIC INTERIOR ARCHITECTURENATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP SERVICE "SEINE"WOODWORKING OFFICIALUNIVERSITYSPECIALISATION IN THE Libertadores SWISSWORLD LEARNING OF ARTExhibitions2013collective exhibition, CARTAGENA IS FILLED WITH BLUE, THE NAVAL MUSEUMCARTAGENA2011SOLO EXHIBITION-CARTAGENA-GALLERY BOOK CAF - SALSA, COLOR AND same categorywith2008 SOLO EXHIBITION - MUSICIANS AND DOWNLOADS, BARRAQUILLA PUESIA HUNTING D2006 II COLLECTIVE EXHIBITION CARACAS, VENEZUELA - Venezuelan painter OF THE DAY2005 COLLECTIVE EXHIBITION - CARTAGENA COLOMBIA- COLOR AND FORCECOLLECTIVE EXHIBITION 2005 CARACAS, VENEZUELA - Venezuelan painter OF THE DAY2004 COLLECTIVE EXHIBITION - BIENNIAL acuarelistas porteos" (commentators - MEXICO2004 COLLECTIVE EXHIBITION CAMPAIGNING - DAY THE PAINTER PUERTORIQUEO2004 EXHIBITION, MUSICIANS IN FRAMEWORK OF THE VII ROMEFILMFEST INTERNATIONAL JAZZ -BARRANQUIJAZZ - Tetro AMIRA DE LA ROSA2000 SOLO EXHIBITION - RHYTHM, HOTEL HILTON CARTAGENA2001 SOLO EXHIBITION - FUSION AFRO-ANTILLEAN PASSION, HOUSE SPAIN1999 FIRST SALON BOLIVAR LARGECOMMUNAL EXHIBITION 1996 ECOPETROL1997 EXHIBITION1093 ECOPETROL COMMUNAL CULTURAL WEEK IAFIC1987 EXHIBITION-FIRST SALON COMFAMILIAR BARRANQUILLA1985 EXHIBITION-NEW NAMES IN THE ARTEXPOSURE VESSEL HAD ARRIVED AT CARTAGENA 1985 CASA DE LA CULTURA URIBIA1984 IV REGIONAL MAM1984 SALON EXHIBITION degree thesis1983 CULTURAL WEEK UNIVERSITY OF CARTAGENA1982 II LOUNGE BLASCO CABALLEROART EXHIBITION 1980 END OF YEAR, SCHOOL OF FINE ARTSPROJECTevoke PICTORIAL afro-caribbean roots inspired by the pictures of the Long Play, as indelible symbols of the afro-caribbean musical culture of the sixties and seventies, is a reflection of the real art and lively own of the work of the master Javier Florez, who, this time, leads us with his brush along a trail of pictorial polyphonies conjugate with the connection between the singer, the musician, the culture, your are and the Long Play. This icon of the music represented the coherence of the vivid artistic projection; the band and the whole team left in the condensed the image of the identity of the disk; it meant a work more in the artistic scene; a culture inserts in the everyday life of the sixties and seventies; a tradition that inspired flavor and charisma, and that allowed for social integration. The Caribbean rhythms and Africanness, transcending the boundaries of the color to take us to remote places, where we can find with our cultural roots. That has been able to translate the typical sounds of our "latin culture" to the image, the sublime image of the Long Play afro-cuban and salsa, full of color, flavor, swin, that we know that unites us as a people, as a culture, as a race.Well then, there is no need of ears definitely nothing to feel the flavor of the Caribbean and the music that is presented to us this project plastic, which bears the title "plastic representation in compositions of the long play, artists of afro-cuban music and salsa, prominent in the years 60 and 70, the mix of light and color typical of our cultural being, permeates the paintings in such a way that it is impossible not to be infected by the joy that in spite of everything in a country in conflict as Colombia continues to erupt in our hearts as the driving force for peace and a better tomorrow.."Guzman Dilson Westmacott"
