Very rare watercolor paintings with city view. The art works were painted and signed on both sides of the paper. The dimensions are 14"h. by 16"w. The following, submitted February 2004, is from Janice Rose: I met Lawrence Nelson Wilbur in October, 1964 when he asked me to sit for him. He was best man and his wife, Sally, was matron of honor at my wedding in April, 1966. I maintained a relationship with him until his death which I believe was in 1989. There were 2 Lawrence Wilburs, one an illustrator living in New Jersey and Lawrence Nelson Wilbur, who used his full name to distinguish himself from the illustrator. Lawrence Nelson Wilbur was born in December, 1897 in Whitman, MA, a descendant of Myles Standish and Washington's aide-de-camp, General Joseph Reed. His father died when he was 16 and Lawrence worked to support his mother, 2 brothers and 1 sister. He attended night classes in Boston Normal Art School (now Massachusetts School of Art). He went to California in 1921 and worked in the engraving department of the "Los Angeles Times" and, in 1925 relocated to New York City where he enrolled in the Grand Central Art School and studied under Harvey Dunn, N.C. Wyeth and Pruett Carter. He has an oil, "Sundown in Stonington, Maine" in the National Gallery in Washington, D.C. and has drypoints in the collections of the NY Metropolitan Museum, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Library of Congress, Boston Public Library and Philadelphia Museum of Art. Except for a two-year sabbatical to Mexico, he lived the remainder of his life on W. 96th Street in New York, was a life-time member of the Salmagundi Club and won the Audubon Artists medal of honor for his self-portrait in oil, in 1957. A cover article appeared in American Artist Magazine sometime in 1957, written by Frederic Whitaker. I have a copy of that article. He worked in watercolor, oil, dry point, linoleum cut, wood engraving and lithograph, all with equal facility. Even with failing eyesight, he continued to work until his death.

Sometimes Artelisted will keep the option to bring the staff to a UPS Store. Buyer will pay handling, shipping, and insurance (if desired) costs. Shipping costs depends on final destination.
Sometimes the items are in the owner possession. In this case the shipping will be from a third party delivery.
In this case as a trusted third-party Artelisted collects, holds in an escrow account)and disperses payments once buyers and sellers are satisfied.
STEP 1
Final costs are calculated (including shipping), and the buyer submits payment through Paypal, Credit Card, or Wire Transfer.
STEP 2
After the payment is verified, the seller sends the painting within ten days. Artelisted ensures that paintings are sent with a tracking number. Insurance is purchased at the cost and discretion of the seller.

If you are discontent you have five days, from the confirmed shipping delivery date, to send an email to [email protected]. If you choose to return the painting, you the buyer, will be responsible for shipping and shipping insurance costs.
All of the lots are originals with proven provenance. The works are not framed and the canvases may not be stretched for delivery purposes.
